What to Bring to an Outdoor Photoshoot

So, You have found a photographer for your special day, whatever that day may be : Eloping in the mountains, some Instagrams by the beach - you name it. But now you might be wondering “what do I do? What do I bring?”

1)Your Ideas and Your vision

Feel free to bring some ideas.  Trust your photographer , and know that every shoot is unique, but you are a part of the team and we want to hear what kind of vibe you are going for! It can help set the tone. Sometimes its nice to grab a coffee (or wine?) before the shoot to take a look through what you have in mind.

2)A few outfit changes (if permitted).

Depending on the shoot you booked, your photographer will guide you on how many outfits you can bring. I think its always good to bring some accessories that are you - glasses, stuff to braid your hair with, something to change up your look a bit.. helps make the photos variable!

2A-Props

Maybe you have some fun props- If it goes with your theme, by all means bring it in a small pack!

..But what kind of outfits?

Neutrals often look best outside, but do not be afraid to let your personality shine if that just isn’t you ! Usually simple, light colours do best for the face, distracting logos and colours often distract from what we really want to see, you!

3) Change of clothes

If you’re doing an adventure session.. you may get dirty, you may get wet- I would plan for this depending on your shoot location (Don’t be afraid!) Bring some clothes in your car or in a pack so your ride home is more pleasant. :) And a towel maybe. ;)

4) Snacks and water

This is pretty much my advice for anything in life. Snacks and water. Don’t be afraid to ask for a break if you get tired in your shoot or need a refuel!

5) Your best attitude

Okay, sounds strange? The thing is, taking pictures outside creates amazing pictures(my favourite obviously) but the weather dictates alot of what we do. Be patient, be ready, but most of all be open. Some of the best pictures are in the worst of weather, so remember this when you are getting pictures in some interesting conditions!

So I think those are my best tips to get you thinking of your next photoshoot! I love hearing crazy weather stories.. if you have any comment below!!
