Finding and Photographing Ice Caves

youtube video exploring the ice caves

It all started out as a fantastic morning in the mountains, it was truly a beautiful day.  Sunny and no wind which is a miracle in this area.

I was so excited to go and find some ice this season.  I am working on a glacier documentation project and knew this would be a fantastic area.  We had tried this area 2 weeks ago but got whited-out so had to make the long drive back.  Glacier work takes a lot of time and a lot of patience, but worth it.

The blues were absolutely perfect.  Definitely my favourite colour. I also brought my blue dress to continue my Boundless Blue dress series which captures images in wintery and mountain landscapes. It was about -25Celsius this day but I was too excited to care! I was definitely cold by the end however.

Again, we couldn’t have asked for a better day exploring the caves.  I tried to make the best of it by creating lots of pictures which you can see in the youtube video and I’ll attach a few here in this post as well. I would say photographing and editing this type of landscape is right up there with my favoutites. If you are interested in the technical/photographing/editing aspect of ice caves please let me know! I would be happy to chat more about it.
